Emshab

A Confluence of Contemporary Poetry and Orchestral Vision

The new music video and single “Emshab” (Tonight), composed, arranged, and directed by Tahmoures Pournazeri with the legendary vocals of Master Shahram Nazeri, has officially been released. Produced by Majid Abdi (Tar Production), the piece is built around the evocative verses of celebrated Iranian poet Hossein Monzavi.

In “Emshab,” the expressive vocal delivery of Shahram Nazeri blends with lush string orchestrations, layered polyphonic harmonies, and the contemplative voice of Tahmoures Pournazeri’s setar, creating an intimate yet expansive meditation on separation, solitude, and longing.

Cinematic Visual Storytelling

In addition to composing and performing the setar solos, Tahmoures Pournazeri took the helm as the director of the official music video. The visual production brought together distinguished figures from Iranian cinema: acclaimed cinematographer Touraj Aslani as director of photography, Meshkin Mehregan in production and stage design, and Navid Tohidi as editor, creating an atmospheric visual language in tune with the track’s musical depth.

Vocal tracking took place at Warehouse Studio, recorded by Ryan Eno, while the string orchestra was captured at Rusk Studio by Jill Tengan. The final mix and master were handled by Ramin Darestani.

Tonight, the weight of your sorrow cannot be contained in my mad heart,
It is a treasure—and what treasure can a ruin possibly hold?
So far from you am I that the grief of exile tonight,
Cannot fit even into the most desolate of ghazals…
